IDENTITY SYSTEM / LOGO + VARIATIONS / PALETTE + TYPE
DELIVERABLES::
We started with how the owner talks about the pieces: reverence, wonder, and the beauty in things others overlook. That became the rule for every decision. Lean into the natural-history register, specimens, not spooks, and reject the genre's easy props: no horror-movie type, no Halloween palette, nothing played for shock. The identity treats each object the way the shop does, as something worth looking at closely.
The Approach
Feral Oddities is a Chattanooga-based oddities and curiosities shop: ethically sourced bones, preserved specimens, relics, and the overlooked corners of the natural world, collected by an owner whose curiosity is the whole engine of the business. The shop needed an identity that could hold two truths at once: the work is macabre, and the work is deeply respectful. The category default, Halloween-store horror, would have betrayed what the shop actually is. The brief was to brand a collection, not a costume.
